As neurologists, our physicians are highly trained to treat disorders of the nervous system. This includes diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Some of the more common problems that a neurologist will diagnose and treat are strokes, epilepsy (seizures), headaches, dementias (Alzheimer's disease), multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and various forms of pain. Neurologists may serve as consultants to other physicians as well as provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.

Dr. Robert W. Gilbert

Dr. Gilbert received his bachelor of arts degree from Emory University and his medical degree from Duke University. He completed his internship at Duke University and went on to do his residency in Neurology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Gilbert is affiliated with Piedmont Hospital, where he is a co-director of the Neurophysiology Laboratory. Dr. Gilbert is the current President of Peachtree Neurological Clinic and past President of the Georgia Neurological Society (1985 to 1987). His medical society memberships include the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis, the American Association of Clinical Neurophysiology, Georgia Neurological Society, the American Society of Neuroimaging, American Headache Society and International Headache Society. Dr. Gilbert holds certification from the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Ellis V. Hedaya

Dr. Hedaya received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Rochester and then earned his degree in medicine from Johns Hopkins University. He also served in the military as part of the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1969 to 1976.
He completed his internship and residency at Emory University. Dr. Hedaya received a fellowship in Neurology from the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Hedaya's professional associations include the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis, and the American Medical Association. Currently he is affiliated with Crawford Long Hospital and Piedmont Hospital. Dr. Hedaya has special expertise and experience in Neuroimaging, including the interpretation of CT Scans and MRIs. Dr. Hedaya is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Douglas S. Stuart

Dr. Stuart received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Stuart completed his internship at Emory University Hospitals and his residency in neurology at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. His professional associations include the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the American Sleep Disorders Association. Dr. Stuart is affiliated with Piedmont Hospital, Crawford W. Long Hospital, and the Shepherd Spinal Center. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Christopher Russell

Dr. Russell received his bachelor of science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987. He received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Russell completed his internship in internal medicine and his residency at Emory University School of Medicine. In 1997 he was selected Chief Resident. He is highly trained in EMG, EEG, and neuroradiology. He is currently affiliated with Piedmont Hospital and Crawford Long Hospital. Dr. Russell is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Jeffrey B. English

Dr. English received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Boston College and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H. He served an internship in internal medicine at the University of Maryland, Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He served his residency in Neurology at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Dr. English's professional associations include the American Academy of Neurology and Dr. English is President of the Georgia Chapter of Docs4patientcare. His professional activities include working with the Maryland Brain Attack Center in training and participation with the acute stroke team at the University of Maryland. He is affiliated with Piedmont Hospital and Crawford Long Hospital. Dr. English is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Andrei I. Serbanescu

Dr. Serbanescu received his medical degree from the Carol Davila Medical University School of Medicine in Bucharest, Romania. He completed his internship and residency in neurology at Emory University. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has extensive training in neurosurgery, neurology and internal medicine. Dr. Serbanescu comes to us by way of Marietta Neurological Associates, P.C. and Southeast Research Associates. As an investigator for the research firm, he participated in over a dozen studies and tests relating to a range of neurological conditions from Alzheimer's to seizures. Dr. Serbanescu joined Peachtree Neurological Clinic in 2003 and is on staff Crawford Long Hospital and Piedmont Hospital. He also sees patients at the MS Center of Georgia. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the Georgia Neurological Society, the American Headache Society and the International Headache Society.

Dr. Lawrence G. Seiden

Dr. Seiden received his bachelor of science in biochemistry at the State University of New York – University at Stony Brook. He holds a master of science degree in physiology from Georgetown University and a medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, and his residency in neurology at the University of Maryland Medical System. Following a fellowship at the University of Maryland in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy, he remained on faculty at the University of Maryland Epilepsy Center. He has been in active practice at Peachtree Neurological Clinic since 2003. Dr. Seiden is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
